Spinal Stabilization Technologies™ was originally founded in 2010 by two interventional radiologists to commercialize a lumbar implant for nucleus pulposus replacement to alleviate some types of lower back pain.

History

Today Spinal Stabilization Technologies™ is a medical device company focused on commercializing proprietary technology for nucleus pulposus replacement. The technology incorporates a new surgical procedure and tool set for accessing the internal anatomy of a lumbar disc, removing the damaged nucleus pulposus and then replacing the damaged nucleus pulposus with a long-term implant designed to bear the load and forces of the lumbar disc. This procedure will be performed by spinal surgeons and will not require removal of any bone or muscle and is expected to take approximately one hour.
